The most recent trend is for companies to create a Smart TV which is a television that incorporates internet browsing, social media and live streaming into a conventional HDTV. The newest advancement within this area is the new Samsung TV that comes with a remote control with both a normal set of buttons and on the reverse side a full QWERTY keyboard, allowing the user to quickly and easily use the internet on their television.
As well as the Smart TV revolution, all large television manufacturers are working on creating a 3D television that is viewable without the use of any glasses, this is an idea that is not going to come to fruition anytime soon, with television giant Samsung TVs saying that they are at least 10 years away from a 3D television that doesn’t need any sort of glasses.
Another new piece of technology has just been revealed by HTC, this is the MHL technology that will allow the user of one of HTC’s new Evo 3D smart phones to plug their phone into any 3DTV and use it on a big screen HDTV. Unlike traditional HDMI enabled phones, the MHL technology charges the phone whilst it is attached via HDMI meaning that there is unlimited usage time for this feature.
