Round Up of All the Best TVs from 2022

As we edge closer to the end of the year, we’ve taken a look at some of the best devices launched by the big names in Smart TVs. With so much innovative technological development happening in 2022, it would be hard to name just one, so we have created a list of the standout devices (for us) this year.

New TVs from Samsung

This year we saw the highly anticipated Samsung Neo QLED 8K and 4K line-up. Although the Samsung Neo QLED TVs have been introduced previously, this new range offered significant upgrades to last year’s award-winning models. Sizes vary from 43″ in the 4K Neo QLED AN90B to an almighty 85″ in every model aside from the 8k NEO QLED QN700B.

Display – The Quantum Mini LED light source is further enhanced with the addition of 14-bit HDR Mapping, adding even more details to dark and bright scenes. The Quantum Matrix Technology, controlling, with intense precision, Samsung’s proprietary Mini LEDs, offers even more accuracy with Shape Adaptive Light control. This technology allows viewers to experience jaw-dropping detail across every scene.

Audio – This range of TVs was the first to introduce Dolby Atmos Technology for Samsung. Previously they have featured their in-house audio technology. However, with the excellent traction of this state-of-the-art technology, Samsung finally embraced all that Dolby Atmos has to offer. They still feature Samsung’s Object Tracking Sound, which provides direction to the audio on various levels, provides a much more realistic experience, and works hand in hand with Dolby Atmos for the best cinematic, immersive experience.

Smart Features – Starting with gaming, the Gaming Hub will include a dedicated gaming interface for easier access and control. It also provides Cloud gaming integration, super-fast response, ultra-high refresh rates and Motion Xcelerator technology. All are available to enhance motion clarity for the ultimate next-generation gaming experience. The latest advancements also showcase an upgraded Tizen interface providing more excellent facilitation and content discovery. This includes Samsung TV Plus’s expanded channel line-up and a new level of personalisation and recommendation. These features can also be found in our collection of new Samsung smart TVs. Why not upgrade today and see all that Samsung has to offer?

New TVs from Sony

Like other TV manufacturers, Sony introduced its first QD-OLED TV, rated the best QD-OLED TV this year. Despite the fact Samsung was the manufacturer of the panels, Sony was the first brand to announce this new development in technology within their A95K range of smart TVs.

Display – Although many manufacturers have been using mini LEDs since 2021, Sony introduced this within the A95K range of smart TVs, which offers incredible contrast and a higher peak brightness compared to a Full Array of LED backlighting. However, to combat the common issue of making the shapes of the zones of the backlight visible, many devices with mini LEDs have utilised XR Backlight Master Drive. This skill, powered by the impressive XR processor, aligns the brightness of the LEDs required instead of reducing them as Sony claims other manufacturers have done.

Sound – Still utilising Acoustic Surface Audio technology, the sound is projected from the screen as opposed to just the speakers, providing a much more life-like experience with the audio of the device. This technology has been improved and refined to enhance quality across various content.

Smart Features – An exciting addition to this new range of TVs is the Bravia Cam which comes with the device. It magnetically sits on top of the TV and allows you to video call via Google Duo. However, Sony has promised that the Bravia Cam will provide much more beneficial functions in the future.

It is said that the camera will offer Ambient Optimisation Pro, adjusting picture and sound based on where you are in the room, Gesture Control of the TV, Proximity Alert, designed to prevent children from standing or sitting too close to the TV and Auto Power Saving Mode (which detects when you’ve left the room and dims the screen). All these functions will improve the accessibility of the TV along with improving the energy efficiency of the smart TV. However, this device is perfect even then, especially if you are looking for a cheap Sony TV with all the bells and whistles.

New TVs from Panasonic

Although OLED TVs from Panasonic have been famous for the quality for many years, this powerhouse has significantly upgraded their TVs, especially for gamers, making this smart TV one of their best. Launched at the start of the year, Panasonic released its flagship OLED TV with Hollywood tuning and incredible colour accuracy. The device is available to buy at 55”, 65”, and for the first time, 77”.

Picture –This device will optimise the screen to offer you the most explicit images at any time of the day, using advanced sensors to detect the light levels in the room. The AI technology will recognise the available viewing capability and optimise the display without you needing to change the settings and offers an excellent advantage for watching TV at night time.

This range of TVs also uses the “Master OLED Pro” configuration, improving mid-level brightness, delivering more detail from HDR and enhancing accuracy in reproducing details in brighter areas. It also supports Dolby Vision IQ and a wide range of other formats used by the film industry, making it the best option for those who love nothing more than settling for a good film.

Audio –Panasonic has used Dolby Atmos for crystal clear sound quality like other manufacturers. In addition, Panasonic was the first TV brand to introduce built-in upward-firing and side-firing speakers. This year, Panasonic has overhauled the front-firing speakers, replacing them with array speakers, which are multiple speakers arranged in a row. These speakers are featured across the entire TV length behind the front speaker grill, providing more audio precision and offering directional sound around the room.

Smart Features – Gaming has been significantly improved with Panasonic’s LZ2000 with the introduction of a new feature called Game Control Board. This function will collect all relevant game settings and information and showcases them as a picture overlay, allowing you to access them without needing to leave the gaming screen. It provides real-time data of the information coming from the source, including HDR metadata, frame rate, HDR Tonemap, input lag and VRR and viewing mode. This allows gamers to customise their experience, and with the help of SPD Auto, Game Mode will automatically detect compatible HDMI2.1 4K and optimise the screen for perfect gameplay each time. Although we can’t guarantee to stock specific devices of smart TVs, we always have a brilliant collection of cheap Panasonic TVs available with some of the latest technology from our refurbished devices. New TVs from LG

LG has been known for years for their excellent quality when it comes to the latest TV technology. Their brilliance continues with their 2022 LG 4K OLED Evo TV. Offering the most advanced picture quality, designed with movies, gaming and sport in mind, this latest addition to the LG OLED TV’s family provides vivid details and colours that are hard to find in a standard TV.

Picture – Using the a9 Gen5 AI processor, the pixels are controlled by AI technology to offer illumination like never before. It provides Brightness Booster Max, which increases the screen’s brightness by up to 30% compared to non-Evo models. This smart TV has freed itself of a backlight, allowing access to even deeper blacks and over a billion rich colours. Self-lit pixels turn themselves on and off without a backlight, so dark areas stay dark as onyx and brights are exceptionally light.

Audio – combining LG’s a9 Gen5 AI processor and Dolby atmos, you can listen to sounds like they are in the room with you. This technology offers LG’s most precise audio, and precision detail adds exceptional depth to the scene. Even the most subtle textures are detected, creating an all-immersive experience optimised to the content on screen.

Smart features – One of the more fascinating functions of the LG OLED Evo is the OLED Care function. This allows the AI technology to optimise the screen with customised recommendations based on your viewing habits. By setting up profiles on your TV, you can receive recommendations based on your viewing history, reducing the question of what to watch each time. In addition, ThinQ technology will help you find the perfect film for movie night.
