TV and the programmes which we watch have a massive influence on our lives, but what we watch is a very personal and individual decision. The culture secretary, Jeremy Hunt has said today that 20 towns and cities around the UK are expected to get their own local TV stations.

Today it is easy to search online for one of the many LCD TVs available to buy for your own home, many of which will come with deals for digital TV from freeview or SKY. But for these new local stations to survive they will have to prove that they are commercially viable.

It is hoped that the development of these local TV stations will provide more programming which is relevant to local communities’ daily lives and things which are unique to those areas and the people which live there.

It is important for the set up and running of these stations that the projects were technically viable, so have be checked and careful selected. The media watchdog ‘Ofcom,’ were the people who selected the chosen towns and cities, it did this through examining the interest levels from the local audiences and prospective operators.

The TV technology market is developing and innovating at a spectacular pace, with transformations in the technology happening at a daily rate. It is now time for the TV programming market to catch up and develop new and exciting incentives to get people watching a wider variety of programs, local TV stations could be the way in which they entice people to watch more television. This will then lead to greater sales in the TV market as a whole, as people who previously were unengaged by their TV station, start to watch more TV and consequently desire a better quality TV to watch it on.

As the electronic age has started to really boom, we are seeing more and more complicated machinery and computers that the everyman understands less and less. Hidden away under cases and inside wires are tiny parts that respond to electricity that allow us all to watch, play and enjoy our favourite films, games or internet time.

One of the little miracles present in every home

As consumers, the most that many of us know about it is how to turn the plug on, or operate the menu screen and even that is considered advanced knowledge to some people in our community. The point has been made before, that if we were to travel back in time, most of us, individually, would be no more advanced than your average citizen of ancient Greece. We know that mobile phones and mp3 players exist and we know how to use them, but if we were sent back 150 years, none of us would know how to make one.

When it comes to electronic gadgetry, to the naked eye, there are only three steps: you turn it on, magic occurs, you enjoy using the item. But with the way that technology is progressing, these 3 observations are starting to happen even in the world of cutting edge science. Scientists have recently been able to connect two small diamonds with quantum entanglement – which means that when you affect one, the other reacts equally despite having no apparent connection or communication. Whilst there is still no universally accepted explanation for this, the only recorded observations that can be verified are: affect one diamond, something (magic) occurs, the other diamond responds to the effect.

Many widely available consumer products are understood by less than one percent of the people who buy and use them every day. For example, perhaps you wouldn’t expect to be able to buy a very cheap appliance that utilises the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. But if you were to purchase one of our many LCD TVs, you would be in possession of this perplexing and advanced technology. Let us sell you a little bit of the magic that allows for a miraculously clear image resolution and low power consumption. Many people don’t understand it, but they’ll appreciate it for what it is, a great machine that gives you what you want to enjoy. If for any reason you do travel back in time and you can’t live without your mp3 player or television, but you lack the skills to be the first to invent one, the solution is simple, you can just look up a ‘how to’ on Wikipedia.

Christmas means different things to different people, but for most of us the best part of Christmas is considered to be the closeness of family and friends; loved ones coming together and celebrating throughout the holiday season. There is nothing better than the whole family enjoying a bountiful Christmas roast and then curling up together with the fire roaring and a heartwarming film on the TV.

If there is one thing on your Christmas list it should be an LCD TV, you will instantly notice the difference. It is a well known fact that the television programs and films played during the Christmas period are significantly better than the rest of the year, a gift to us from the television channels no doubt. Don’t miss out on the Christmas classics this year and invest in a TV the whole family can enjoy.

LCD TVs are renowned for their high quality displays and what a perfect way to fill your home with that extra special splash of colour this Christmas. One of the valuable characteristics of the LCD TV and a lifelike brightness which sets them apart from standard television sets. Unlike plasma TVs they produce a much sharper image with an unbeatable clarity.

Christmas is a tricky time for all of us financially; trying to limit your spending can be difficult when faced with the demands of children. An LCD TV may not be as expensive as you might think; the high quality equipment is definitely worth the extra cost which is lower than ever at electronic world, so you can have a magical family Christmas without breaking the bank.

Samsung has recently introduced the 950 Series 3D LED HDTV monitors in the Middle East, the new monitor range features Samsung’s innovative 3D technology, TV tuner capability and a fresh asymmetrical design.

The multi-talented Samsung 850 series have the technology to be used as computer monitors, social media hubs, and their primary use as a remarkable TV. The monitors are designed to collaborate; entertainment, work, gaming and computing in one pioneering package. The monitors have many new features, such as mega DCR and LED BLU technologies.

The prices for LCD TVs have been dropping lately, and designers are compelled to exorcise product differentiation approaches, a promising one seems to be LED-backlighting, as with most of today’s devices, they have become mainstream and you can purchase Cheap LED TVs in a range of outlets.

According to Samsung, the monitors refresh the screen at 120Hz, two times faster than an average 2D monitor, while the Digital Noise Filter technology enhances the visibility of pictures by removing the noise from dense low quality images. Although the model is a variation of the standard Samsung 32 inch TV, the same Samsung distinction is still present. The Samsung 950 Series 3D LED HDTV Monitors are available in 23-inch and 27-inch at all major electronic stores across the region.

The ConnectShare feature available on the new design allows users to effortlessly connect their USB to the monitor view video, music and photo files without the hassle of having to turning on their PC. The Samsung Smart Hub invention gives viewers access to the Samsung Apps and social TV, a truly cutting-edge piece of Samsung technology.

This past Wednesday Toshiba announced that it is developing a new LCD TV that has a very special function. The TV that will double as a Blu-Ray disc recorder will consumer absolutely no power whilst in standby mode. Toshiba plans to commercialize the new “REGZA” devices by the end of the 2011 fiscal year.

Toshiba's New Energy Efficient LCD TV Releases Sometime This Year

The devices are equipped with an “Eco Chip”, which is essentially just a semiconductor chip with a capacitor that is used to store electricity while in standby mode. A mechanical relay that is situated between the power cable and the power supply unit within the television is controlled by the eco chip. When the TV is in standby, the relay is turned off, meaning that the device is unable to consume any electricity, as if the power cable were unplugged. To avoid a total loss of power during prolonged periods of standby time, the relay will turn on for a short time, allowing the Eco Chip’s capacitor to recharge. The relay, of course turns back on again as soon as the user turns on the television, allowing power to return to the TV.

Alongside this, Toshiba has developed the “RZ Power Saving Remo”, which is an Android application designed to aid in reducing power consumption of the Regza series of LCD TVs. The application allows the user to remotely set a power saving mode in accordance with power consumption through the use of “Electricity Forecast” and “Power Consumption Meter” which are services provided by Yahoo! Japan to Android users. Toshiba plans to begin distributing the app free of charge in Mid July.

Fierce competition has fast become a major characteristic of the television market due to continuous innovation within the industry. With each television producing company trying to gain the upper hand of the market through developing the best products, there is now a huge selection of what to look at when considering buying a television. This drives customers into a lot of confusion when trying to make a choice prior to making a purchase.

LCD TV's are Here to Stay

The LCD TV is one of these high- tech constructions. Being superior to any other design of the past, the desirable piece of homeware is built to produce high quality service with the crisp high definition picture portraying this fact. The vibrant colours and deep black effect of the screen have led to users stating that you seen anything as it is actually meant to be seen. In addition to these luxurious features, the LCD TV has a much wider degree of viewing which enables clear viewing at awkward angles for example when sat in a fully packed bar trying to watch a game of football.

Besides these extraordinary visual facilities, these television sets have modern technology embedded into their system. Bearing several connection points, they can be used as a computer monitor making them multi-purpose. For example the USB connection points mean users can use them for functions such as viewing digital photographs on the high resolution screens. The televisions are designed to make them lighter and thinner which not only makes them easy to shift but also attractive. These highly fashionable TVs are a must have part of the household furniture.

Technology has been improving at an alarming rate in the past few years. As we speak, superior products are being developed that will supersede current electronic gadgets that we use on a daily basis.

Plasma TVs are still popular, but LCD seems set to become the dominant technology.

The television industry has always been a competitive market as large corporations attempt to develop products that will give them the edge over their competitors. Every company wants to develop the most advanced products and control the market. The competition in the TV industry is particularly fierce at the moment as manufacturers are able to produce high quality products such as LCD and plasma screen TVs at very low prices.

The TV market is currently dominated by LCD and plasma screen TVs, although there is evidence to suggest that the majority of consumers favour LCD screens and it’s possible that plasma screens may become a thing of the past. However, the price of plasma TVs is being slashed accordingly and it is now possible to pick up a brand new plasma TV for a great price. If you’re considering investing in a new TV to replace a dated CRT set then you may be left wandering about whether to opt for plasma or LCD. Thankfully there are plenty of handy guides online that can help you make the right decision.

However, there is a huge amount of money currently being invested by the World’s electronic giants and new, highly advanced LCD TVs are taking the market by storm. LCD seems to be the technology favoured by the majority as LCD TVs tend to be much more cost effective than plasma screens and there is a greater scope for development.

It also seems like LCD is the choice for the majority of consumers, many of whom opt for LCD TVs due to their lower cost, long life span and greater reliability.

For a while now, Apple has been a part of the TV market, with Apple TV, a small media outlet for a HDTV that allows you to rent films, play movies and music from your computer and watch Youtube videos on your HDTV. However, it now seems that Apple is planning on releasing its own internet connected HDTV sometime in the future.

Is iTV just aorund the corner?

In February rumours surfaced about Apple possibly developing a TV due to a job listing on their website that involved, among other things, working with television. This lead to speculation that Apple was planning on creating their own LCD TVs especially after reports surfaced after a Chinese trade show that “data points” indicated an Apple Smart TV launch that would be a full-blown TV for the consumer market.

Apple is such an incredibly large and powerful company within the consumer electronics market that even though it would be the firms’ very first attempt at making a TV, the sales would likely be incredibly high. With many people developing a strong loyalty to Apple through their iMacs, iPhones and iPads, there would be a huge demand for an Apple TV.

The supposed LCD TV would reportedly be over 50 inches in size, and have a start price of around $2000, as was speculated by Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray. One thing is for sure, and that is that it will be one of the most stylish LCD TVs available, with Apple’s well known ability to design attractive products.

Their was also a decline in the number of units manufactured across the board due to Chinese New Year celebrations leading to fewer days of working production.

Each month, DisplayBank releases its “Monthly FPD TV Shipment Data” regarding the number of televisions distributed for the month. The company predicts that the distribution of LCD TVs globally will grow by 6% year by year to 48 million from 44million in the first quarter of 2011. This is around 10%-15% lower than the increase forecasted in many companies business plans at the beginning of the year.

Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics led the field in terms of LCD TVs for February, be they LED back-lit or CCFL. The corporation had a 20.5% share of the total LCD TV market, followed by their close rival LG Electronics who had 15.8% and Japanese giant Sony with 9.8%. The firm also took 25% of the LED TV market, with LG again having the second largest share at 14.9%.

The ratio of LED back-lit televisions is rising, and should hit 32.1% for quarter 1 of 2011, with many brands increasing the proportion of their products with LED back-lighting. US based manufacturer Vizio leads the way with 52.7% of their flat screen HDTVs being shipped as LED back-lit.

Samsung has just announced an exciting new development in the fast moving market of LCD TV’s. It has announced the first mass produced transparent LCD screen.

One of our hundreds of LCD TV's

Although the transparent screen will likely be used primarily for advertising in its first few months, it makes for an exciting prospect for the future of LCD TV’s across the market.

However probably the most exciting news with the new transparent LCD TV’s is that they will consume almost 90% less energy than a standard LCD screen. With ever rising energy prices, this is sure to be a great way to keep the bills down.

The transparent screen that Samsung has announced will be available at 22” wide and will be available in a colour version and a black and white version. Both boast a great contrast ratio of 500:1 and resolution of 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA). The black and white version boasts what Samsung is calling “the best transparency ratio in the world” at 20%.

Although no release date has been set for the AMOLED, it is certain that there will now be a race by other companies to try to catch up to Samsung in the race for the next development in the LCD TV market.

Although there seems to be little benefit to having one of the transparent screens as of yet, we are still certain that we want one, based on just how incredibly futuristic the new screen will seem. Once it becomes time for public release, the technology will have advanced far enough for it to have far more behind it than this early model does.
